For over 130 years, the Bethel Baptist Church family has sought to demonstrate the wonderful Good News of the Gospel--that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. Our roots in Sykesville go back to 1886, when we began meeting as the Stump Creek/Shaffertown Sunday School, and we are still committed today to the same passion that drove our founders: To glorify God as a family of believers proclaiming the Christ of the Bible as the only salvation for a fallen world.
You can learn more about our beliefs as a church here, and you can get connected with our fellowship by contacting us. We look forward to meeting you, and sharing the Good News of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection with you!
Our Mission:
Bethel Baptist Church exists to glorify God as a family of believers proclaiming the Christ of the Bible as the only salvation for a fallen world.
Our Vision:
By God's grace we strive to be known for trustworthy Biblical teaching grounded in confident belief in God's Word, a church family that seeks to be like Christ in sacrificial love and fellowship with one another, working together in hopeful expectation for the salvation of everyone we meet
Our Values:
Jesus Christ is the only way to God (Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 1:15; John 14:6)
All of the Bible is relevant and authoritative for us (2 Timothy 3:16)
Expository preaching and teaching grounded in the Gospel is our normal practice (1 Corinthians 2:2)
Prayer is the essential starting point for all our endeavors (Ephesians 6:18)
We commit to one another's spiritual growth and equipping for ministry (Ephesians 4:11-13)
We foster an attitude of hopeful expectation in evangelism (Acts 16:14)
We aim to make disciples in Sykesville, in Pennsylvania, and around the world (Matthew 28:18-19; Acts 1:8)
